Are you building a small creative business and keep wondering if you’re on the right track?

Are you ready to feel confident running your own business, knowing what steps to take to achieve your goals?
Our friendly online community designed specifically for Australian makers can help you find answers
Make Good Things Happen was founded in 2020 by Angela D’Alton and Renee Baker, the team behind D’Alton Baker Productions and Makers in Business Online Symposium.
The pair met in 2006 after Renee came across Angela’s online store Leeloo, a nurturing platform for Australian sellers of handmade.
As an emerging illustrator who lived hours away from Sydney’s cultural and creative centres, Renee was feeling isolated in her creative pursuits and seeking connection with like-minded people.
After striking up the courage to send Angela a message on MySpace (yes, we met on MySpace), the pair agreed to meet to see if Renee’s illustrations would make a suitable match for the growing collection of handmade products for sale in Angela’s online store.
The rest, as the cliche goes, is history.

Since this illustrious meeting, we have spent over 15 years working together within the maker community of Australia, including roles at Etsy and the Finders Keepers. During that time we’ve encountered the highs and lows of managing our own businesses whilst supporting 100s of independent designers and artists through their own challenges.
With expertise in maker business essentials from social media to wholesale, marketing to copywriting, design markets, online stores and day-to-day management they’ve got loads of advice to share with you.
Honeyeater Memberships to Make Good Things Happen provide instant access to a range of educational videos designed for Australian makers in business.
There are over 40 videos (and growing!) covering topics such as pricing your products, Pinterest for makers, email marketing, writing product descriptions and applying for design markets.
Plus for no extra charge, join expert mentors LIVE for our popular Maker Sessions, a friendly forum of online interactive learning and pick up essential advice to support your maker-business journey.
Honeyeaters can ask the mentors of D’Alton Baker Productions specific questions every month and have them answered live. Always educational, often entertaining.
