Speaker Biography

Regularly referred to as a “rainbow unicorn”, Erin is not your typical corporate type.

Erin started her full time business journey when she founded Perth Makers Market in 2015, holding the launch event in February of 2016.

Prior to this, Erin ran her own handmade business called Handmadeley, attending markets selling handmade products as well as online via Etsy. Erin ran Handmadeley as a hobby business, rather than a full-time venture and treated it as such.

This led Erin to gain an understanding of the market industry within the Perth area, including learning about the importance of brand identity, maintaining an online presence and social media growth – which she also learned more about through volunteering to run the Made On The Left Instagram account for a period in 2014 – 2015.

Perth Makers Market launched in Feb 2016, with approximately 75 stallholders and 1500 public visitors to their first event. By the end of 2016 Perth Makers Market was approached by the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (now Development WA) to run a Christmas Market at Elizabeth Quay over 2 days with approximately 200 stallholders in attendance each day.

Perth Makers Market has now grown to be the premier handmade artisan market run within Western Australia, with 6 markets held each year in Applecross, and additional markets added to the schedule at other venues such as the Twilight Market Series which for 2022 is running in the Perth Cultural Centre 4 times.

Erin Madeley Consulting was the next business to be launched (in 2019) after Erin was repeatedly approached by organisations to assist them with their events, but which didn’t fit the Perth Makers Market brand. In order to best assist these other organisations and businesses whilst maintaining the integrity of the Perth Makers Market brand, Erin Madeley Consulting was born.

Erin Madeley Consulting works to help non-profits, local governments and businesses with running their events as well as helping creative small businesses to grow through education and mentorship. In 2021 Erin acquired Perth Upmarket, encompassing 4 Perth Upmarket Events, 1 Wedding Upmarket event and 1 Art Upmarket event held annually at the University of Western Australia.

Now with over 7 years experience growing and maintaining her businesses Erin is a wealth of knowledge that you can tap into to help you grow your own business as well. Erin has worked with over 300 businesses annually, for the past 7 years, through her events. Having has seen what it takes to make a creative business successful and where the pitfalls that creative business owners might be that you could fall into, Erin loves to help businesses thrive.
